The Way Our Way. May and June 2014

The Camino de Santiago is a 800km trek across northern Spain and is described by anyone who has taken it as a Life Changing Experience. Since the Middle Ages, millions of people, both rich and poor, have completed the Camino to ensure they would spend less time in purgatory. Now we are joining these pilgrims as we endeavour to walk from St Jean Pied de Port in the French Pyrenees to the north west corner of Spain and the city of Santiago de Compostela.

Day One - St Jean Pied de Port to Valcarlos - 12 km up hill

We had an amazing first days walk through farmland and rolling hills. Lots of wild flowers and countryside smells. It really was idyllic - well maybe not the steep hill into Valcarlos!
Tomorrow we walk to Roncesvalles - with a really steep climb!
