Day Twenty - Calzidillos de los Hermanillos to Mansella de las Mulas - 25km then a few more to Leon by taxi!

Our walk today was 18km along a Roman road and then the rest on the senda - the road by the highway.
I wish Romans had invented something nicer to walk on than stones and pebbles!
Our walk took us straight through the middle of no-where with fields of crops - mainly wheat - stretching in all directions. There was a wind today which got quite strong at times so it didn't seem as hot as yesterday but judging by our sun burn it was!
On the senda you have to walk in single file.
I was passing the time listening to my IPod and focusing on my feet to make sure I didn't fall over any stones. Anyway Gary was in front of me and I couldn't see his feet - I was in a little world of my own!
Suddenly feet and trousers appeared in my view and I thought 'Gary is walking very slowly I think I will annoy him to alleviate the monotony!" So I walked very close behind him - very close!
Sometime passed before it occurred to me that Gary was wearing shorts today and not trousers and didn't have women's feet!!! So I looked up and there was Gary several metres in front and some poor little woman was scurrying along in front of me trying to get out of my way!!!!  Woops!

Goodbye Calzidillos

hello no where?

irrigation channels

A multi-facilitied rest stop.
Some where to sit, some shade and a wall to pee behind!

ROMAN ROAD!!!

of course an Elvis Bar!

This afternoon we got a taxi to Leon for several reasons. Our feet are killing us, the walk into the city is 10km of industrial estate, tomorrow is going to be rainy and windy - a lot of wind and also it will be our last chance to go out with our friend Pat as he is moving at a different schedule from us from now on!
