We had great walk with a few towns to get a drink before we headed out for 8km across the meseta again. No shade just bumpy, uneven Roman road.
Calzados de los Hermanillos was a welcome sight when it first came into view - but then it disappeared again for another hour!
The place we are staying is probably the nicest one we have stayed in so far. The village shop is an experience too. It is tiny and owned by an equally tiny man.
He sells just about everything - including octopus - and he'll mend your shoes as well!
We all ate dinner together at a big table. There were a man and woman from Germany, a man and woman from France, two woman from South Africa, two men from London and a woman on her own from Virginia. So quite an eclectic group! It was fun, especially the 2 British guys and the South Africans.
However the star of the show had to be the owner/chef/entertainer. He was hysterical, especially his bad English. He is extremely flamboyant and hugged and kissed everyone randomly and danced and sang his way through the evening - as well as cooking some pretty good food!
Off we go! Note the shoes hanging from the power lines - someone really hated their shoes! |
The ruin of a 12 century albergue |
and we are officially half way!!! |
A metal man!
These two looked like small versions of Bob and Allan! |
and we're there! |
