We spent the evening in a converted water mill and had a shared meal with 3 Italians and a German - luckily they all spoke English!
We were taken back to the middle of Hornillos to start out walk today.
The sun actually shone today and we didn't have to put on our rain coats. In fact we walked in t-shirts for some of the way!
We left at about 8.15 and got into Hontanas at about 10.40. Just as we sat down at the bar/cafe for a sandwich and drink the bells at the church next to us started to ring for 11 o'clock mass. They rang for 15 minutes - it was so loud you couldn't speak! The church was cold and damp and the sermon was 20 minutes long!!!!!!! However the 10 locals who were there welcomed the visitors even if none of us knew what was being said.
After that, the next 10km of the walk past quickly as we chatted to a lady from Australia and enjoyed walking in the sun.
Our home for this evening is a room above the first bar you get to in Castrojeriz. Our room is much cosier than we had imagined.
Our friend Pat from New York State walked by as we were sitting the the bar's front yard and we walked with him through the village to find his hotel. What a strange village! It is long and thin. We walked for about 2 km before we reached the other end of the village and found where he was staying!
The other day I posted a photo of a guy carrying a cello - this is his website
The team filming his walk are walking to the same schedule as us and we are going to see him play this evening in the church over the road from where we are staying. We are not really into Bach or cello music but as we have been observing the filming and are maybe in some of the shots we feel we should watch him play!
