Day Twenty-two - Villar de Mazarife to Hospital de Obrigo, about 15km

After dinner at the albergue last night we went for a walk around the village and we spotted something we had missed before - a museum!
As we walked by a little old man came out and invited us in! So in we went and took a huge step back in time. However, the old fashioned kitchen and sitting room were not part of the museum - that was out the back and up stairs and could best be described as "eclectic".
There were collections of farm implements, scallop shells, barbed wire on sticks, telephones - hundreds of them, type writers, books magazines, telephones from boats, telephones from submarines, telephones in boxes, wooden telephones, plastic telephones, telephone wires - the spiral type, a Spanish Hello magazine (Hola) from 1965 with the then Pope on the front cover and another magazine from 1940 with Hitler laughing on the front cover! It was amazing and ever so slightly surreal! We had a guided tour during which we had to try to understand what he was telling us! He even showed us his old toilet.
The man was so proud of his collections and his wife was so pleased he had us to show it all to. He then took a photo of us at the end as a record - we were probably the only visitors so far this year...............

The walk today was short and not very exciting, mostly along the road. We were forced to have an early breakfast at the albergue aka jail and were on our way by 8am arriving at Hospital de Obrigo by 1130. The town is famous for the Roman bridge (see pictures below) and a jousting tournament they have every year. Tomorrow we have another short 15km walk to Astorga, famous for a Gaudi building and chocolate.
