We had a choice of two routes this morning. One short and one longer. For once the shortest route was the one through open countryside rather than along a road so it was an easy decision to make.
It was misty when we left Triacastela at about 8.15 but we soon climbed up and out into the sunshine. This enabled us to look down on the clouds in the valleys.
The villages were small and full of tiny farms with vegetable patches, chickens and cows.
Although we have passed cows walking along the paths we have not seen too many in the fields - they seem to be kept tightly tethered in dark barns, especially the cows in calf. I guess the farmers have their reasons but it is quite upsetting to see.
Before we started the walk we had read about hikers being attacked by ferocious farm dogs - the dogs we have seen, mainly German Shepherds, are all just laying around in the sun and ignore everyone who passes - (that is a good thing I think!).
Hi Karen - I have to tell you - and probably should have told you awhile back - but everyday during lunch, I log on to your blog sight and follow your journey - something I look forward to everyday - besides eating! Your pictures are fabulous, and certainly filled with history, as well your journal entries are delightful and filled with bits of humor - makes an easy read! I wish you and your husband continued success in your journey and I will continue to read the blog until you reach your destination. Thanks for doing this - God Bless! / Susan Crowell
